The video I watched was “Did you know 4.0”. I liked that video because it’s just so mind boggling to me how fast technology is changing from day to day. It’s incredible that Obama could raise so much money for his campaign just through social sites such as YouTube and Facebook. Everything that is paper oriented such as magazines and newspapers will be whipped and gone digitalized. Another crazy thing is how many more viewers Facebook, YouTube, and Myspace get over ABC, NBC, and CBS. A whopping 250 million over 10 million. Another crazy thing I learned is how the very cell phones that we use in our pockets will be the number one tool to access internet here in nine years. It really just amazes me how much money twitter has helped business’ pull in, I think that’s probably one of the craziest things I’ve heard. Technology is a very important tool in classrooms. The use of technology can help speed up our learning process. I’m a pursuing math teacher, and with computers we can access online sites to solve additional math equations. I’m in calculus and I just learned about this program we can use on the computer. With the program you can input the equation and even have it graph it for you, this cuts down time by half. Now I don’t believe we should completely rely on things like that because it takes away a child’s critical thinking process. But something like this helps a kid see things more visually and check his/her answers.
This was about a video I watched that showed the changing of technology today and how we use it. It was really interesting to learn about because technology is changing so rapidly. This kind of goes along with Web 2.0, but as in the changing years there will be more ways to use technology in class. There are more and more math tools that will be to my use as I become a teacher. With the increase of technology I will be able to communicate more with the students by the use of email, putting homework on a webpage, and possibly even making podcasts as a source of reviewing.
